Laurent Dombrowicz was born in Belgium on the 6th of January, 1966.
Graduated from INSAS (University for Theater and Film Industry, Brussels) as film director in 1987, he has started his career in fashion at the age of 23 as Fashion Director of the main weekly belgian magazine supplement Weekend L’Express.
Between 1989 and 1997, Laurent Dombrowicz has worked, as stylist, for several publications in Europe, such as Euroman including the iconic french kingsized glossy Jardin Des Modes. He focused his work on the tension between art and fashion, using on a regular basis his knowledge of the Film History.
Discovering and highlighting new talents becomes soon his first priority. Laurent Dombrowicz has co-founded in 1997 and managed the company of Olivier Theyskens, his former assistant. In the very late 90s, he starts a 6 years work relationship with the belgian menswear designer Xavier Delcour. In the last two decades, he had helped pushing talents such as Manish Arora at the fashion forefront. As co Editor in Chief in 2008 for the british publication WOUND, Laurent Dombrowicz was the first to believe in a fashion story with Lady Gaga and commissioned it. His global view on fashion has driven Laurent Dombrowicz’ career to other territories. In 2007, he is appointed by the catalan government to be art director of a refreshed edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion Week. As a highlight of this event, Laurent Dombrowicz organizes a spectacular retrospective of Thierry Mugler, his favourite designer ever, at the breathtaking spot of the Olympic Swimming Pool Montjuic. A 45 minuts show with more than 100 models and a audience of 3000 people.
Laurent Dombrowicz is also a writer. His texts have been published in four continents and his main contribution to CITIZEN K INTERNATIONAL as Fashion Editor at Large then global fashion director has featured interviews of the most influential or important fashion designers of our times, from Rick Owens to Alber Elbaz and from Donatella Versace to Kim Jones. His work with womenswear is the total opposite of the famous but so oldfashioned « less is more » ethos, as Laurent is a sophistication-addict and refuses the laziness of the snap short esthetics. His work with menswear has another kind of energy, exploring the boundaries of excess and eroticism, with an edgy sense for casting.
With the years, jewellery and beauty shots are also some of his favourite play grounds. His relation to beauty expertise, game changers and übertalented artists has opened or him a specific territory to express his skills : OTT editorial projects for independent titles such as Tush (Germany) and Mirror Mirror (NL) and a prolific collaboration with Miss Fame, one of the most famous and stylish drag queen in the world.
Since 2011 Laurent Dombrowicz is appointed by different divisions and work teams at L’Oreal group, to present and develop trendwatching. Explaining, exploring or establishing new links between Arts, fashion and the cosmetics industry. Delighting the past, feeling the present and smelling the future.
